Frequently Asked Questions... and answers!
|
Q: I’d really like to come to the Walk For Animals, but I don’t have a dog.
A: You don’t have to have a dog to celebrate the animals on May 18th! You can enjoy the hundreds of dogs already walking that day.
Q. I’m not part of a team — can I still participate?
A. Yes, even though it only takes 5s people to make up a team, individuals are strongly encouraged to join in on their own! Be part of the Traditional Walk, or you can also walk OR run in the new 5K-9 Road Race!
Q. Can my children participate in the Walk For Animals?
A. Absolutely… children are the next generation of pet lovers and animal advocates! We have a special category of prizes for youth fund raisers. Plus, we’ll have face-painting, games, a petting zoo and a lot more fun, affordable and FREE activities for kids to enjoy.
Q. How far is the Walk?
A. The Traditional "Paws On Parade" is an easy stroll around the MHS Adoption & Learning Center grounds… about 1/2 mile (and you can stop anytime you like). For the more athletic minded people of our community, we’re introducing the MHS 5K Road Race.
Q. Are pledges we collect based on the number of miles walked or run?
A. The Walk For Animals fund raising efforts focus on supporting this cherished community organization. The Traditional Walk is a ceremonial stroll around the MHS Adoption & Learning Center grounds - and is less than 1/2 mile - and not conducive to a per-mile pledge. However, if you are participating in the 5K-9 Road Race , you could consider asking people to sponsor you per kilometer if you would like. In both cases, the sponsor form (on the back page of this booklet) is set up to record the TOTAL pledge.
Q. I want to form a team. What if we can’t participate on May 18th?
A. Although you will be greatly missed on the day of the walk, you can still be eligible for prizes (and boasting privileges) if your collection is turned in before 11:30am on the day of the Walk.
Q. I’d like to help raise funds for the animals, but now is not a good time.
A. You can offer your support through a Walk For Animals fund raising campaign any time of year. Please contact our development office for more information.
Q. When are the prizes announced?
A. Top Walk For Animal Fundraiser Awards are announced immediately before the Traditional Walk about 1:30pm. You don’t have to be present to win, but we would love to have you there! The awards for runners in the 5K-9 will be announced around noontime.
Q. I have a really friendly cat, can he come?
A. For the safety reasons, we ask that you leave cats and small animals at home. Look for our Feline Valentine celebration in February, and our Bunny Hop in the spring to pay tribute to these extraordinary companions!
