Rachel Brostrom, CPDT - Trainer, Agility, Rally, Obedience, MannersRachel Brostrom

Rachel has been training and showing dogs for over 15 years. She is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, a Professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and a Certified Canine Good Citizen evaluator through the American Kennel Club.  Rachel is also a trial official and judge for APDT Rally.  Rachel's competitive spirit, interest in training and showing, and love for dogs began as a child.  She showed her two Australian Shepherds in Obedience trials as a teenager and trained them to do not only obedience behaviors, but many tricks as well.  After finishing college, Rachel and her husband adopted a sweet Australian Shepherd, Abby, into their home.  She began training Abby and competing in agility trials in 1999, and the rest is history!  Three more furry friends have been added to the Brostrom household since. Kobe and Libby, both Australian Shepherds, and Maximus, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, compete in several venues and have shown fantastic versatility. All Rachel's dogs have earned numerous obedience, rally, herding, and agility titles.  Rachel and her dogs have also dabbled a bit in flyball, dock diving and canine freestyle.

Rachel holds a Bachelors Degree in Biology and Secondary Education, and a Masters degree in Education. After teaching high school science for nine years, Rachel is currently staying at home with her two young children and teaching training classes.   She has found that her teaching experience and dog training work hand-in-hand: kids are a lot like dogs in their need of positive reinforcement, good motivators, clear boundaries and consistency.   Through teaching and training, Rachel enjoys helping people enrich their relationship with their dog.
