Humane Education

Humane education programs at Monadnock Humane Society aim to provide youth in the Monadnock Region with an outlet for learning that fosters curiosity, creativity and critical thinking.  By offering opportunities for positive experiences with animals in a shelter environment or beyond, MHS seeks to instill reverence, respect and responsibility for companion animals, livestock and wildlife -- all critters no matter how big or small!  Inspiring and enabling youth to be compassionate towards and responsible for animals within their local communities through a variety of avenues (including outreach to schools, community partnerships, summer camp, birthday parties, job shadows and internships) is the organization's primary goal.  Young learners that are engaged in interactive learning experiences with animals -- from understanding how to properly care for companion pets to appropriately enriching the lives of shelter residents --help build a more humane community for all.  After all, the best shelter is a humane community.
