Let's Get Started! Therapy Dog Training

1.5 hour lecture- $15

Learn how to get your dog registered as a therapy dog. We will discuss the differences between a service dog and a therapy dog; how much training your dog needs to pass a therapy dog evaluation; how to choose which therapy dog registry is best for you and your dog; what are the benefits of becoming registered; current best practices for dog visits; where you can volunteer with your registered therapy dog; and what local resources are available to you. Amee Abel is a past member of Delta Society and a current Tester/Observer for Therapy Dogs, Inc. She and her dogs have volunteered at local schools, senior residences, libraries, hospices, and rehabs for years. There will be no activities for dogs at this lecture, so no dogs need attend.
